m. 5−4−16. Simultaneous Close Parallel ILS

PRM and RNAV (GPS) PRM Approaches

(Independent) and Simultaneous Offset Instru-

ment Approaches (SOIA)

This change expands the use of ILS PRM and
localizer type directional aid (LDA) PRM approaches
to also mean RNAV PRM and GLS PRM approaches.
Explanation of FMC coding of the SOIA offset
approach is also added. Further, this change updates
guidance regarding runway separation when high
update PRM radar is required to conduct simultan-
eous close parallel approaches.

approach option and was deleted.

This change adds the Title 14 of the Code of Federal
Regulations Section 99.7 (14 CFR 99.7) description
of “Special Security Instructions” and the
14 CFR 99.3 definition of “Defense Area.” In
addition, the Emergency Security Control of
Air Traffic (ESCAT) overview has been retitled and
moved under a new subparagraph.

This change updates information and guidance to
modify outdated information, reflect policy and
terminology changes, and address changing techno-
logies.

This change updates information and guidance at the
request of the National Weather Service (NWS) as the
information was outdated.

r. 7−1−14. ATC Inflight Weather Avoidance

Assistance

This change was added to expand the meaning of the
phrase “when able” when used in conjunction with a
clearance to deviate around weather. The clearance to
deviate is clarified to allow maneuvering within the
lateral limits of the deviation clearance.

s. 7−1−29. Thunderstorm Flying

This change updates information and guidance to
reflect new information in Advisory Circular 00-24C,
Thunderstorms, published on February 19, 2013.
