1. A

PPLICABILITY

This attachment applies to all simulators,

regardless of qualification level, that are
used to satisfy the training requirements of
an FAA-approved low-altitude windshear
flight training program, or any FAA-ap-
proved training program that addresses
windshear encounters.

2. S

TATEMENT OF

C

OMPLIANCE AND

C

APABILITY

(SOC)

a. The sponsor must submit an SOC con-

firming that the aerodynamic model is based
on flight test data supplied by the airplane
manufacturer or other approved data pro-
vider. The SOC must also confirm that any
change to environmental wind parameters,
including variances in those parameters for
windshear conditions, once inserted for com-
putation, result in the correct simulated per-
formance. This statement must also include
examples of environmental wind parameters
currently evaluated in the simulator (such
as crosswind takeoffs, crosswind approaches,
and crosswind landings).

b. For simulators without windshear warn-

ing, caution, or guidance hardware in the
original equipment, the SOC must also state
that the simulation of the added hardware
and/or software, including associated flight
deck displays and annunciations, replicates
the system(s) installed in the airplane. The
statement must be accompanied by a block
diagram depicting the input and output sig-
nal flow, and comparing the signal flow to
the equipment installed in the airplane.

3. M

ODELS

The windshear models installed in the sim-

ulator software used for the qualification
evaluation must do the following:

a. Provide cues necessary for recognizing

windshear onset and potential performance
degradation requiring a pilot to initiate re-
covery procedures. The cues must include all
of the following, as appropriate for the por-
tion of the flight envelope:

(1) Rapid airspeed change of at least

±

15

knots (kts).

(2) Stagnation of airspeed during the take-

off roll.

(3) Rapid vertical speed change of at least

±

500 feet per minute (fpm).

(4) Rapid pitch change of at least

±

5

°

b. Be adjustable in intensity (or other pa-

rameter to achieve an intensity effect) to at
